My Miyoo Mini v4 had been sitting on my desk collecting dust for months. I just wasn’t using it for gaming anymore, but the compact size, headphone jack, and clicky buttons were too good to leave in a drawer. So, I decided to give it a second life as a dedicated, offline music player and YooPod was the result. Just local music files, physical controls, and a familiar interface inspired by classic media players.
Key features
- Format support: Handles standard MP3, FLAC, WAV and some other formats straight from the SD card.
- Classic “Now Playing” Screen: Clean typography for track, artist, and album info, with square album art and that familiar bottom mirror reflection.
- Familiar UI: Status header with battery and playback indicators, plus a progress bar with elapsed and remaining timers.
- Tactile Controls: The D-pad and face buttons handle track skipping, volume, and menu navigation. The select button locks the screen and all the buttons. To unlock it you have to press it for one second to make sure it doesn’t unlock when in pocket.
- Purely Offline: Plays your MP3s straight from the microSD card through the 3.5mm headphone jack or the bad built-in speaker.
